Yoga and Religion
Yoga & Religion- Are you wondering how yoga will fit into your spiritual practice? Are you worried about it? Have you thought about trying it, but then thought, what will people think? Is yoga a religion or a workout? What if you’re not religious at all?
I recently had a conversation with someone from my area about these things, and I’d love to quickly and simply address these concerns:
Yoga is a practice to help you be your most authentic self...the best version of what is YOU. A true yoga class is not about religion. It’s about authenticity.
The poses are used to “strengthen and discipline the body” and the practice of meditation is meant to “calm the mind.” *
Simply put- It’s YOUR experience. You own your practice. You decide what is best for you. No one else.
I have all kinds of research to back up the benefits of yoga, but I promised to keep it simple.
